Accounting Specialist

Job Description

The Accounting Specialist will handle a broad mix of accounting and administrative tasks including AP/AR processing, job costing support, reconciliations, vendor communication, and billing coordination. This role is essential to ensuring accurate financial tracking for roofing jobs, subcontractor payments, and daily construction-related financial activity

Key Responsibilities

  • Process Accounts Payable: vendor invoices, subcontractor bills, material receipts, and credit card transactions.
  • Manage Accounts Receivable: customer invoicing, progress billings, insurance claim billing, and payment follow-up.
  • Support job costing by coding expenses to correct jobs, cost categories, and project phases.
  • Perform bank and credit card reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and timely month-end close.
  • Assist with payroll data entry, timesheet collection, and verification.
  • Maintain accurate vendor records, W-9 collection, and assist with 1099 processing.
  • Work closely with project managers to validate billing accuracy and track job financial progress.
  • Ensure compliance with internal approvals, purchasing policies, and documentation procedures.
  • Support general office accounting tasks: filing, data entry, reporting, and administrative duties as needed

Qualifications

  • 2-4 years of accounting experience; construction or roofing industry experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of AP/AR, reconciliations, and basic accounting principles.
  • Experience with construction-related accounting systems a plus (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Foundation, Viewpoint).
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through.
  • Ability to work fully on-site in Commerce City and collaborate with field and office teams.
  • Strong communication skills with vendors, customers, subcontractors, and internal staff.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Office Suite.
